 Video Analysis Â

What the clock cannot tell us, the replay often will. Â

The internet era transformed how punters access race information. State-based Principal Racing Authorities now provide race replays on their websites, and depending on the jurisdiction, that access may also include stewards’ footage, barrier trials, and jump‑outs.Â
Video reveals details the formguide cannot. By watching replays, punters can begin to judge a horse’s condition, size, stride, fitness, and racing manner, along with traits of temperament or behaviour that may matter next start.Â

 Reading a Horse’s Action Â
Stewards’ footage and race replays reveal quirks that matter. A relaxed horse is more likely to cope with longer distances. Conversely, horses that race keenly, fight the rider, or present with head carriage issues may struggle over further. They might also just be early into their preparation.Â

 What Sectionals Don’t Show Â
Incremental data tends to show furlong times at best. But the most telling changes in stride often occur deep inside the last 100 metres — beyond what a last‑200m sectional can reveal.Â
